Nike had introduced its Back to the Future Style, Self lacing shoes in 2016 with its Hyperadapt line. However, the pair of shoes are not so inexpensive as you might have thought. People who are ready to shell out $720 a pair could wear them. The base price is now all set to go down to $350 during the spring. At the same time the company has not covered the availability in the UK and Australia but it converts to £275 or AU$495 respectively.
Mark Parker, the CEO of Nike announced the new price of the self lacing shoes on December 19, 2018 and noted that the cheaper version of the show will also mark the line’s move in to the performance basket ball footwear. The original version of the Hyperadapt had laced up after the user put the foot inside of the shoe and with the help of a sensor in the heel, it tightens and buttons on the side to further adjust the fit.
The $350 price is a substantial cut for the line of Hyperadapt as it is all set to foray in to the basketball arena. At the same time, it cannot be denied that the price still remains a premium price as it can be compared to the Nike’s Lebron 16 Basketball show that is priced at $185 in the US. Moreover, the users can also shot around to find a cheaper sports sneaker. Nike was not available for an immediate comment.
The shoes have been tested back in 2016 and in 2019 it is ready for a full fledged production. There are many sports enthusiasts who can be lured with the new price, but it cannot be said if the sports goers would actually be ready to pay such a price when the market has plenty of options in the segment. $350 continues to remain a premium price.
