Microsoft prepares to bring Xbox Live to Android and iOS

Xbox maker Microsoft is getting ready to launch an important software development kit which is also known as the SDK and will allow the game developers to integrate the Xbox Live in to any titles that run across the PC, iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch. The news was found by Windows Central, a GDC session that revealed that Microsoft will announce the cross-platform push for the Xbox Live in March 2019.

It is observed that some of the Android and iOS games already have an Xbox Live Achievement but they are only enabled in the titles that come from Microsoft Studios but not many of them are available right now. The GDC listing says, “Xbox Live is expanding from 400 million gaming devices and a reach to over 68 million active players to over 2 billion devices with the release of our new cross-platform XDK”. The developers on the Xbox Live cross-platform will be allowed to integrate in the friends list, achievements in the existing mobile games and multiplayer functionality.

This is an important part of the new gaming mission of Microsoft to reach outside the traditional PC and Xbox markets. It will also bring the software, services and games to players on the rival platforms. The software giant is also working on an xCloud game streaming service that will stream the Xbox games to PCs, consoles and the mobile devices later in 2019.

It will be combined with the Xbox Game pass by Microsoft and the company is trying to create a Netflix for the video games with the help of a subscription that will give the gamers access to games no matter where they intend to play them. However, if Microsoft can convince the developers to allow it to handle the social and multiplayer aspects of the gamers on the mobile devices and rival consoles then things could be even more different.
