Apple might introduce update for iPod touch

Cupertino based company Apple has already made announcements about a few product refreshes this week, but they might not happen immediately. The next device that is likely to get a hardware update is the iPod Touch. The seventh generation model might be announced on March 20, 2019 through a press conference like the company had did with the low-profile announcements with the new iPad Air, iPad Mini and the upcoming iMac.

It is likely that the iPod touch might hit the stores soon as it has been name dropped by Ming-Chi Kuo, who is an analyst who is good with a record for predicting Apple launches. Reports have also noted that developer Steve Troughton-Smith had discovered references to what could be a refreshed iPod touch in iOS 12.2 code.

Moreover, an upgrade for the iPod touch does make sense as it is among the oldest devices that Apple still features on the store. The last time it was upgraded in 2015 and now it is beyond due for an upgrade since it is powered by the aging A8 processor which is also found on the iPhone 6. It can be said that the users can expect a significant boost to the iPod touch’s processing power.

But otherwise it is still unclear if Apple would stick with the thick-bezeled design that will draw a clear line between its iPhones and the last remaining iPod. Or else it might be welcomed in to the notch party. So far none of this week’s updates have featured major redesigns. However, it also seems questionable that the iPod would break that trend. The gadget enthusiasts are also wondering if the potential design change would lead to end of the headphone jack. Apple’s rumoured AirPods 2 are expected to be launched in the first half of 2019. This might also happen this week as many of the updates have already been announced.
