Apple and Amazon are day by day getting in to offering more offers in terms of video streaming content. On the other hand the other tech giant is stepping back from originals. Video streaming giant YouTube is giving up on its premium programming strategy. Reports say that it cancels two high-profile shows sci-fi thriller and comedy Overthinking with Kat & June. You Tube is apparently no more accepting pitches for expensive scripted content.
Chief Business officer Robert Kyncl at YouTube had said in November that many of its originals that many of its originals that are currently available on YouTube Premium subscribers, would soon be accessible for free. They will include a mix of films like Viper Club, The Thinning, reality shows starring YouTubers like Scare PewDiePie, Prank Academy, series like Wayne, Impulse and documentaries like Ariana Grande: Dangerous Woman Diaries, BTS Burn The Stage.
The biggest hit has been the Cobra Kai, a Karate Kid reboot which are among the few number of shows that are to be renewed and is reportedly now set for a third season. There are many shows to mention and it eventually means that all the originals will reportedly make it to the YouTube free of Charge. At the same time, the video streaming giant will not be gambling on its tentpole due to Amazon’s upcoming Lord of The Rings series.
Moreover, it is not even keen on following Netflix while setting aside a $12 billion originals budget. It is not even the case that YouTube parent Google does not have any cash but that has not stopped others from failing. A growing competition can be seen in the streaming market with a few casualties from Yahoo! Screen to Comcast’s SeeSo and Target Tiger. It might not come as a surprise that YouTube has decided to give up the battlefield completely before the segment gets even more crowded.
