Search engine giant Google is no longer selling its Pixel 2 on its online store. If you still find the link, then it will direct the users to the Pixel 3 and the change was noticed by a leading daily on April 1, 2019. Even the Pixel 2 XL was no where found under a list of phones on Google’s store. At the same time a web search for the device still shows a link from where the users can buy it.
The Pixel 2 XL has been marked down by around $300 to $1099. The search engine giant is rumored to be less expensive and a mid-range phone has been nicked named as the Pixel 3a r the Pixel 3 Lite. Removing the Pixel 2 from the store might be an indication that the company might be making some space for a new device in the already saturated market which is also hungry for a competition.
The search engine had stopped selling the Pixel and the Pixel XL on its store around the same time in 2018. Google then rolled out the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL on its store in October 2017. The phones were launched during the Valentines Day this year. Meanwhile, Google has not immediately responded for a comment.
The decision to discontinue the Pixel 2 is seldom surprising. The phones that were launched in October 2018, had their own set of criticism as the Pixel 2 XL’s OLED screen was criticized for lack of definition at angles and the users had also complained about a mixture of high-pitched noises and clicks coming from the phone. While Google is preparing for the launch of the new devices, they are likely to be priced half as much as their flagship siblings with the Pixel 3a to be priced around €450 when it arrives in May, 2019. The new devices are expected to cover all the complaints and have better features.
