Facebook adds Secret Crush feature as a boost for dating service

While Facebook is struggling to keep up with the figure of its active users, the social networking giant is all set to add a new feature known as the Secret Crush. The new feature will allow the users to find out if any of their friends on Facebook are romantically interested in them. The services can only be availed by users aged 18 years or above and will be completely free of advertisements and other paid features.

The new feature that is about to be launched is a part of the Facebook Dating Service that has been so far launched in 19 countries. The users with the new feature will be able to allow the users to express their romantic interest in up to nine friends. If any of the short listed friends also use the service of Facebook Dating and like other user back, both the users will be notified about the mutual crush on each other.

Any of the user who is a part of their Facebook friend list can be added as your secret crush even if they are not using the service. The other user will also be notified about someone having a secret crush on them, no matter if the person users the service or not. If the users share the similar interests, Facebook Dating will also recommend potential partners. The social media giant believes that the new service will help to boost their user base as people would surely be curious to learn who their secret admirers are.

Analysts have said that the Facebook Dating service might have some similarities to providing the same kind of service as the existing dating apps like Tinder and Hinge. The feature will be integrated with Facebook groups and events that will help the users to meet their potential partners offline as well. It is also available on the Facebook smartphone application in the countries including Vietnam, Colombia, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Guyana and more.
