Roku launches Sound Bar that can stream content to TV

American tech company Roku has introduced a new Smart Sound Bar as a part of its hardware portfolio on September 4, 2019. It functions as a TV speaker as well as a Roku Media Player that can serve up to a ton of content without the need for a separate device. The Sound bar has four different drivers so that it can help deliver a big improvement over the existing TV speakers.

The users can also have automatic volume leveling with the new sound bar that retails at about $179.99. The new feature means that the users will not have to use a remote anymore to keep adjusting the volume because of loud and the softer volume and dialogue. The new Sound Bar is expected to be available from October and will also support Bluetooth and the Roku OS. Moreover, the users will also be able to enjoy a night-mode that will lower the volume during the louder scenes and will also have a speech clarity function that improves voice frequency to make the dialogue more crisp and clear.

The software of the sound bar will update automatically and it will also work with Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa enabled devices. However, the sound bar is not the only hardware that was unveiled by Roku on Wednesday. It also launched an optional Roku Wireless Subwoofer which is likely to retail for $179.99 and will also be available from October. This will be an extra way the consumers can expand the premium audio capabilities of the soundbar to make for a more movie theatre like sound experience at home.

The subwoofer will help to add powerful bass to complement the sound bar without the need of an extra audio cable to boot. The subwoofer and the Sound Bar are available for pre-order at Roku.com starting from September 6, 2019 and will begin shipping in October, 2019.
