People who have already pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy Fold need to be appreciated. Such gadget enthusiasts took the step as they still have hopes with a product that actually missed its release date as it was breaking in the reviewer’s hands, but that optimism has now been met by cancellations. Samsung has taken a step by sending emails to all the eager customers while informing them that everyone in the US needs to pre-order their foldy phones again from scratch.
An email to the customer says, “We are taking the time to rethink the entire customer experience – from purchase to unboxing, to post purchase service”. And the first victims of the reconsideration are the loyal customers who despite all the reports kept their faith in the Galaxy Fold. The email continued,“So in the meantime, we have, regrettably, decided to cancel your existing pre-order”.
The rethink by Samsung probably related to the Galaxy Fold Premiere Service that was announced last week for the US customers. Not many details of it are revealed but it has mentioned, “direct access to Samsung experts who can provide you tailored guidance and support over the phone any time, any day.”
Customers who have pre-ordered with credit-debit card were never charged anything, but those who have paid through PayPal will be refunded the money. To convince the customers to rejoin the queue, Samsung is reportedly giving the customers $250 of Samsung credit which is redeemable on anything for same at Samsung.com. This will also be the place where the Galaxy Fold will be for sale. This surely seems to be a good compensation for the customers. It is also not clear if Samsung has cancelled pre-orders outside the US. The South Korean giant is yet to respond over a few queries regarding the upcoming sale of the much awaited Galaxy Fold. Galaxy Fold is a foldable smartphone that will mark an entry in to a new segment of smartphones.
