The foldable devices by different companies have marked the beginning of a new era in the smartphone market. At present the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and the Motorola Razr are the recent devices that have been launched in the foldable segment and are now available in the US market. The popularity of the smartphones are high and even the prices of the phones are high. But the question remains if such foldable devices which are so expensive, are worth your money. Some of the recent reports suggest that the screens of these devices, easily get scratched and damaged.
One of the reports that has been published has talked about two of the layers on the Razer display that separates and affects the touch screen. On the other hand the Galaxy Z Flip contains a flexible glass display but the tests have shown that scratches easily appear on the screen like it is plastic. However, it is not clear as to how many other users are also affected with the same issues. Samsung in a statement has explained that the display of the Flip has a protective layer and has also undergone extensive testing.
The statement by the South Korean company has also said that the display can bend, but still it should be handled with care. If things are true, then it is surely going on the way the first foldable device the Fold had gone through a year back. This has allows many critics to ask a question of the foldable smartphones are actually ready to be released commercially. The Samsung Galaxy Flip is priced at £1,300 in the UK and $1,380 in the US , sim-free.
It is the Z Flip’s thin glass that the company takes advantage and has marketed. But when a durability test was conducted, it was found that it can be easily dented and is like a soft plastic screen which can be dented even by a finger nail.
