Chinese based electronics giant TCL has come up with some ray of hope in the foldable smartphone segment. In the era of foldable devices, when many companies are trying to master the design of the foldable smartphone, TCL has come up with a new promise and a vision in to the future of how future foldable devices could look like. So far the devices like the Huawei Mate X, Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip have been good but not very impressive but continue to lack on the usability front as they are too delicate to be used on an everyday basis and over expensive as well.
But TCL showed off its tri-fold tablet/phone at the CES, but then it was not functional. The device that was showed was a temporary device that ran on Android and had a working screen that could fold. It is the first model that has actually highlighted the promise of a foldable device. It can turn a phone to a tablet. When it is unfolded it turns in to a 10 inch tablet which can be bigger than a 9.7 inch iPad. The users can also watch videos on the smaller screen and then again bring it back to the stretched mode without the need of carrying another device.
The best part is the calendar mode when you can see your schedule for the day and when it is opened to full size you can see the schedules for the entire month. It can also turn in to half two-screen mode and is perfect for those who like to read an e-book while on the go. The device has plenty of tech that is experimental as the folding display itself has two kinds of hinges. One is the Dragon Hinge and the other is the Butterfly Hinge.
Things might seem all good from a distance, but it cannot be said as to when it can be turned in to a reality.
