Intel chipsets has security flaws that are not repairable

Chip sets by American giant Intel are known for their power and performance. But here is some bad news for the company has a security firm has found a flaw in the chipsets that are used in the computers since the past five years. It has been found that the chipsets allow the hackers to pass the encryption codes and install malware like keyloggers. The worst part is that the problem that has been detected does not have a solution.

The problem was first detected by the security firm Positive Technologies, which made an announcement last week about the vulnerability that has been found in the boot ROM. The recent flaw has exposed millions of devices that run on the Intel chips. Sensitive information can also be leaked through the flawed devices and it will not even be able to detect as they happen. The research firm added that it cannot be detected as the flaw occurs on the hardware level and does cannot have a patch.

The firm has also informed that the hacker will have to have a direct access towards the local network or the device and this will limit the possibility of an attack. They have also informed about another possibility which includes an attack to the chipset key that is encrypted and inside the one-time programmable memory. Whatever the case may be, the researchers have made it clear that the recent threat that has been detected is a serious one and should be taken seriously. Positive Technologies says that the vulnerability of ROM allows control of code execution before the hardware key generation is locked.

On the other hand, rest assured, that the 10 Gen processors are safe and not vulnerable to the threat. Intel said that it is aware of the threat and had released a patch last week that had solved the problem on a partial basis.
