There are chances that South Korean giant Samsung Electronics might go ahead and discontinue its popular and premium line of the Galaxy Note phone by 2021. The move might be taken by the company that could hint a drop in the demand for high-end smartphones due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Galaxy Note smartphone is otherwise known for its huge screens and a stylus that is used for taking notes. The other smartphone is the smaller Galaxy S that was pretty popular among the gadget enthusiasts.
For now Samsung reportedly does not have any plans to come up with a new version of the Galaxy Note for 2021. But on the other hand the top model if the Galaxy S Series is going to have the stylus. Moreover, even the upcoming version of the foldable phone is expected to be compatible with a stylus which will be sold separately. Another report has mentioned that the development efforts that are made at Samsung will hereafter be directed towards its foldable smartphone range.
While Samsung refused to make any comment on the development, Tom Kang, an analyst at a research firm said that the sales of the Samsung Note series is expected to go down by about a fifth and the sales of the S series is also likely to drop. The Galaxy Note 20 was launched in the US market and had a price tag of $999 while the price range of the opponent iPhone 12 starts from $799.
It was in 2011, when Samsung had launched its Note series in the market. This was when the gadget enthusiasts were introduced to the big screen models in smarthphones and helped it to take away the limelight from Apple iPhones. That was also the year when Samsung had become the world’s largest smartphone maker and dethroned Apple. The pandemic has severely affected the demand for smartphones overall across the globe.
