YouTube launches Supervised Experience for parents control over kids

Video sharing site YouTube has introduced a new feature that will allow the parents to have control over what kind of access their kids have with the app. The new feature is known as Supervised Experiences which is a new set of restrictions that will allow the parents to have a control on what their kids can access on the streaming platform. A blog post informed about the feature and said that the new filters will allow the parents to gradually introduce their children to the content that is appropriate for their age especially for the content that is outside YouTube Kids.

The new feature will be first launched in early beta and will have a gradual rollout in the upcoming months. There are going to be three levels of strictness for the parents that they can select and will determine what kind of content their child is allowed to view on their account. The first is the Explore Level and YouTube says that it is suitable for kids who are nine years and above. Then comes the Explore More that is suitable for kids whoa r 13 years and above. And lastly there is Most of YouTube where pretty much everything is available except for the age-restricted content.

People who are above the age of 13 in the United States and other countries will be able to make their own unsupervised accounts on YouTube. But it is not clear what content will be allowed at what levels but YouTube has explained that the Explore level will have gaming videos, tutorials, vlogs, music clips and educational content.
Explore More will have a wider range of videos along with live streams for the Explore categories. While Most of YouTube will have the sensitive topics that might not be appropriate for the older teens. However, the supervised experience will continue to have a system that will rely on an input by the users.
