Taiwanese video game developer Red Candle Games has now started to sell its psychological horror game Devotion on its own website. The game was earlier banned by GOG and Steam after complaints were filed by Chinese gamers. Devotion has been criticized and has been a controversial game but is now available for purchase.
The game was first removed from Steam, but was then supposed to be available on GOG. But soon the very same day it was announced that the game has been removed from GOG as well. After being removed from all the platforms, the game is available again for digital download for Windows and Mac through the website of Red Candle Games. The game can be purchased as such or could also be purchased bundled with Detention, which is the other horror game by the same developer.
Both the games are DRM free and the developer has said that its future projects will also be the same and will be launching other games through its website. The news is received mixed responses with some players are eager to play the game and are ready to financially support Red Candle. Devotion is one of the best survival horror games of the generation and has already grabbed attention among the gamers. Despite the announcement by the company, a number of gamers are complaining that they are not able to purchase the game.
For now the site is only accepting payment in US dollars a n dos not offering any other currency. The game has been physically released only in Taiwan and for now no plans are executed to release it in the west. The game was earlier pulled due to a number of controversies related to it, citing technical issues. But then it never re-released it. In December, it had planned to re-release it on GOG, but then the company backed out and cancelled the release.
