WhatsApp to increase reminders for new policy after deadline

The May 15, deadline to accept the new privacy policies by WhatsApp is here. But there are still a number of users who have not yet accepted the fresh terms of the messaging platform. Hereafter, the reminders to accept the new terms will become persistent. The changes are primarily related to the way the businesses will be interacting with the customers. The new policies were announced in the month of January, 2021 and since then there has been a huge outcry and criticism among the users.

A number of users have alleged that there will be too much of data sharing between WhatsApp and the parent company Facebook. At present more than two billion users of WhatsApp have already accepted the new conditions, but there are still many who have not accepted the new terms. People who have not accepted the terms will slowly start losing the functionality of the app. To begin with, the users will no longer be able to see the chat list and finally, they will not be able to receive any video calls and messages.

But it has been assured that no accounts will be deleted. After the official announcement was made in the month of January, a number of the users had threatened that they would boycott the application and would switch to a rival platform. Due to this some of the platforms like Signal and Telegram saw record number of downloads from users who did not approve of the WhatsApp policies. On the other hand WhatsApp has said that it has been a victim of misinformation and that people have not been able to understand its policies properly.

The company has clarified that the messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted which means that only the sender and the receiver can read the message of the devices that have been used. WhatsApp has given an extension for the users to review the policies again and decide if they would like to accept the new terms.
