Apple hints about fresh delays due to chip shortage and rising COVID-19 cases

Cupertino based giant Apple has always been open about its pandemic related concerns since the very beginning of the phase. It has raised alarms much before anyone else. While a number of people have taken their COVID-19 vaccines, there are also people who decided to stay away from the jabs despite the availability of the vaccine. In recent times it has been observed that the coronavirus cases have been rising steadily across the United States.

Apple has already made it clear to the employees that it will be delaying the plans to return to office until October. This has indicated that the situation would be similar like it was in 2020. This was when the companies had started to reschedule plans as the situation worsened. Apple stood as one of the first companies that had warned about the disturbances that could be caused due to the pandemic in February 2020. That was actually a month before the World Health Organization had declared a pandemic and the nations across the globe had started to implement lockdowns.

In 2020, this was the time when the company had warned the investors that the iPhone launch would be delayed by a few weeks. It typically launched its new device in September and now there is a good hint that the company would repeat the same schedule this year as well. One of the major reasons is the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and also the chip shortage issue that has affected a number of sectors.

The short term plans of Apple could change due to the COVID-19 pandemic but analysts have said that the company is closely working on its new Mac computers, iPads and subscriptions. For many years, the company has been depending on its iPhone for revenue. It makes nearly half of the company’s annual revenue. In 2019, the company started to launch its new subscription services for Apple TV Plus for movies and TV.
