Xiaomi has been making news ever since it launched itself in the smartphone market. The company is known for offering some of the best handsets with maximum features at the best prices. The Chinse giant, despite the pandemic phase has managed to kiss success and left behind Samsung in the European market. Xiaomi became the best-selling smartphone brand in the second quarter in 2021. To top it all, the company has managed to grab the same status on a global level despite the fact that it does not operate in the United States.
A new market study report has mentioned that the smartphone manufacturer from China has become the number one brand globally in terms of smartphone sales volumes. It is the first time the company has been able to achieve this position and it has been possible due to the 26 percent MoM growth in terms of sales in the month of June 2021. Xiaomi was the best-selling smartphone brand in the month of June while Samsung got the top spot for the Q2 2021 on a gross basis. In the previous quarter, Xiaomi managed to grab the second spot and saw a 98 percent YoY growth and shipped more than 50 million units.
Xiaomi launched itself in 2011 and has since then sold nearly 800 million samrtphones. It has a global smartphone revenue share of nearly 9 percent. On the other hand Apple has a global smartphone revenue share of 41 percent while Samsung has 15 percent. Tarun Pathak, talked about the market dynamics that worked for Xiaomi to gain the top spot in June 2021.
Pathak said that it was the downfall of Huawei that Xiaomi made all the efforts to compensate for the gap that was created in the market. It also saw a growth in other markets like India, Europe and China while Samsung suffered due to supply issues. However it has been reported that Samsung would soon retain its top spot after it recovers from the production issues.
