Apple could be forced to switch to USB-C

The future design of the iPhone by Apple could be a little different. But this change in the design is not something that Apple wants, but is due to the new policies that are being laid out by the European Union. The EU has laid out a policy that has forced the smartphone makers to include USB-C port on their respective devices that will allow the smartphones to have a universal smartphone charger for all the phone users.

However, it has to be noticed that the plans to implement this is yet been finalized and could also be dropped. For now Apple and other companies have 24 months to implement the changes and that would mean that the iPhone 14 smartphone could not be affected by the change but the iPhone 15 could have the USB-C port. Here the entire focus surrounds on Apple, as other smartphone makers already have their devices with the USB-C port, but only Apple remains stuck with the Lightening port since 2012. Moreover, the makers of the other devices like cameras tablets and handheld consoles could also be affected by the proposal put up by the European Union.

Apple certainly is not so happy with the proposal and had in a statement expressed that it is concerned regarding the strict regulation as it restricts the innovation and this could also harm the consumers in Europe and across the world. On the other hand, there are also other benefits of the implementation of the policy. Since just one cable would help to charge everything, there is less risk of the charging ports to be changed on the new models that would make the old cables useless.

If the policy comes to effect, then Apple will have to make the changes and switch to USB-C. Moreover, the company has already switched to USB-C for a number of iPad models. So bringing the same change to its iPhones should not be much of a deal.
