Google launches Illustrations to be used as profile pictures

Search engine giant Google has something in store for everyone. It has now created new images that have been designed to be used in the user’s Google profile picture. The official announcement was made on September 27, 2021. The new images are known as the Google Illustrations that look colorful and can be used by people who do not want to use a photo of themselves.

There are plenty of options provided by Google from different categories including technology, animals and space. A fresh library of illustrations has shown that the search engine has taken a different approach that are similar to the Xbox avatars from Microsoft and Bitmoji from Snap. It allows the users to make stylized representations of what they look like. The new illustrations by Google give the users a wide variety of generic things and places that can be used for the avatar.

As per Google, for now the Illustrations are only available for Android users. If you are one of the Android users, they can set one of the illustrations as their profile picture on Google Workspace and Contacts on Android. The search engine has also assured that it is working towards introducing Illustrations to iOS and web and more products.

Google has also said that apart from the current collection it will also work towards expanding the collection. This means that even if the users do not like the current Illustrations they can come back to check when the company has added more. Users who have selected and tweaked an illustration as per their liking, it can be saved to the contacts and would be seen across a number of Google products. They can also be customized by changing their colors and cropping the image. The company has said that he initial batch of the illustration contain a number of cultures, backgrounds and interests. The users could surely enjoy having one on their profile.
