Video streaming giant YouTube has added a new feature ‘Continue Watching’ to watch the videos from the phone and other devices. This would mean that if the user is watching a video on YouTube on Android and iOS and leaves then it will display the video on the bottom right corner. It works like a mini player, that is queued to a second before it is paused. So instead of the name of the channel, the viewers will be able to see ‘Continue Watching’ under the video title.
If the viewer taps the play button, the video will begin to play in the shrunken down view. The viewers can then click anywhere to watch the full video page. This continuity feature also works if the user press the pause button when they are watching videos on YouTube on Android TV and even other TV Sets. However, it can be noticed that the ‘Continue Watching’ does not work for YouTube mobile apps. The feature was first noticed earlier in the week and now more users are able to watch the feature on their respective devices.
The users will have to remain logged in to the same Google account for the history so they would be able to sync. The feature is faster than resuming from the library page or checking the history section or if the user decides to add it to the ‘Watch later’ section. This is also a convenience for the users on Chrome so they can watch other tabs from the devices.
It can be noticed that the video is being given out to only limited number of users. However the feature is currently in the testing phase, but is indeed a promising one that would add to the convenience of the users who are watching YouTube videos. The app has constantly made efforts to improve the user experience by adding new features.
