Link Stickers by Instagram now available for everyone

The Link stickers by Instagram are popular among the users and allowed hyperlinks in Stories in the form of stickers. The testing of the link stickers was started by the platform in the month of June, 2021 but was only limited to the verified accounts or those who have a large number of followers. But now the feature will be available for everyone in the platform. The official announcement was made by the Facebook-owned company.

The link stickers can be useful for a number of purposes for instance for business linking for their products to the activists who link out to external sources. But now Instagram has said that everyone will be able to benefit from the link sharing feature that would help to engage with their followers. But it has been clarified that the accounts who share misinformation or hate speech repeatedly will lose access. To add the link, the users can tap on the sticker tool from the top of the navigation bar after the content is uploaded to the story. The user can then tap on the ‘Link’ sticker and enter the URL that they want. IT then works like any other sticker on the Stories post.

The Stickers feature was announced in the month of June, 2021 and then had said that it was only meant for the Stories posts. Instagram had then said that it does not intend to bring it to the main feed or other parts of the app.

It can be said that the new link stickers feature has been brought in place of ‘Swipe up’, which was the way the Instagram users had earlier used to link out external webpages from their Stories. The feature was discontinued in the month of August. The Link stickers was available for the verified accounts or the accounts which had more than 10,000 followers. But now the feature is available for all the users across the platform.
