Instagram to allow users to post longer videos

Photo sharing social network Instagram is constantly working towards improving the user experience by introducing new features frequently. The network has recently started testing a new change to its Stories segment that will allow the users to post pictures and short videos that will stay live for 24 hours. Instagram intends to increase the maximum length of the videos on Stories to 60 seconds. This is surely another attempt to buck up in from of its competitors including TikTok and Snapchat.

One of the Instagram users in Turkey has informed that the company has started to notify the users about the fresh change. At present, if the user records or uploads a video longer than 15 seconds it will automatically split in to a different story. The mew change on the platform will allow the users to post or upload a video that is up to 60 seconds long without the need to split them. Meanwhile, the company is also testing a new interface for posting Stories which will make it easier to mention other accounts or add a location to the post. Instagram has so far not mentioned about a time line as to when it would be introduced or if the feature would be available for the users across the globe.

For now only a few users are able to post longer stories. On the other hand TikTok is increasingly becoming popular and Snapchat has recently launched a new standalone app for the creators to edit their videos. The new introductions on Instagram does not come as a surprise and is only making the platform more attractive for users who love to share videos on social network.

The iPhone users can now download Instagram for free from the App Store. In June 2018, the number of active monthly users crossed one billion and since then it has not posted figures about its users.
