The year 2021 has been a busy year for WhatsApp, when it launched a number of fresh features to improve the user experience. Now that 2022 has begun, it is ready to launch its first big feature. The app will soon add the contact’s profile photo to the notification when someone sends you a message. However, there is a catch as the feature is currently being tested for iOS beta testers of the instant messaging service if they are running iOS 15 with version 2.22.1.1 of the app.
Profile photos on notifications are not a new trend and are already being followed by other services like Twitter. This means when the user receives a new notification on WhatsApp the name of the contact will appear along with their profile picture. However, it has to be noted that the feature might not be available for all the beta testers. Reports say that the user who can use this function could experience a few problems as it is still in beta. In 2021, WhatsApp started testing a slew of new features which are ready to be launched on the service in 2022.
The app is preparing for the launch of the Community Function that will allow the admins of groups to have better control over the group on the app. It is also preparing for the features like editing of recipients, a new contact info page and filtering of businesses nearby. For instance, when a user is sending media on the service, they will be able to select from different recipients.
Another new feature is the Businesses Nearby that will allow the users to search for nearby businesses like grocery stores, restaurants, fashion stores and more. WhatsApp is also preparing for a revamped contact info that will be similar to a new interface for business info. All the above mentioned features are currently under development and are not available for the beta testers.
