Amazon increases prices of its Music subscription

Amazon has indeed growing popular everyday ever since it launched its Prime subscription. Now that more users are getting enrolled, the service has increased the subscription of its music streaming service. From May 5, 2022 the Amazon Prime subscribers will have to pay $8.99 a month or $89 per year if they want to access Music Unlimited. The subscription priced has gone up from $7.99 or $79. Moreover the price for a single device plan that allows the users to listen to a full library but only from a single Echo or a Fire TV device, has increased to $4.99 from $3.99.

People who are not Prime members can get the Amazon Music Unlimited for an unchanged price of $9.99. The change in the prices emits the discount that the Amazon Prime subscribers have when they pay for the Amazon Music apart from their regular monthly subscription. This means that instead of getting a $2 discount, the users will now only get $1 off compared to the non-Prime subscribers. The price hike of the music subscription comes just weeks after Amazon announced about the price hike of its Prime subscriptions. The company has hiked the prices for the first time in four years and went from $119 to $139 for an annual subscription.

However, Amazon does have its paired down version of the music service but that has only a limited number of songs with just 2 million in count compared to the 90 million that comes with a complete subscription. Amazon Music has the reputation of being the world’s third largest music streaming service and stands behind the other giants like Apple Music and Spotify.

The Apple Music subscription typically costs $9.99 per month and has nearly 78.6 subscribers when compared to Music that has just more than 68.1 million subscribers. Spotify has around 180 million premium subscribers and the figure was noted at the end of last year.
