Facebook might soon get back chat on its app

Social networking giant Facebook had disappointed millions of its users when it removed the chat fature from its core mobile app and forced them to download Messenger to communicate privately with friends five years back. But now it seems like the social networking giant is all set to restore the feature that was once taken back.

The discovery was made by the researcher Jane Manchun Wong who discovered an unreleased feature that brought limited chat features back to the core social networking app. The findings by Wong suggested that at this point calling, photo-sharing and reactions will not be supported inside the Facebook app chat feature. But it will be interesting to be seen if that is simply because it is currently in development.

However, it is still unclear, if the feature will ship to the user at all since this is just a test. For now Messenger has more than 1.3 billion monthly users and will likely stick but this change would give the users an option for chatting to friends. Facebook was contacted for a comment, but so far no response has been received. On the other hand the fresh discovery by the researcher has brought a ray of joy to the users who were not so happy when Facebook had emitted the chat from the app about half a decade back.

Whatever the outcome may be, people who are using the Messenger to chat without the entire Facebook service, might even be satisfied with what they have today. In the past year or two, the missteps by Facebook, the consumer opinions on the social network has never been low. The findings by Wong has come barely a month after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had sketched out a plan to pivot the company’s main focus to groups and private conservation instead of its previously forum approach. This has also indicated that messaging might become its crucial social graph.
