Windows 9 to come as a free update for all Windows 8 users

Microsoft to release Windows 9 as a free update for Windows 8 users.

Microsoft is planning on releasing Windows 9 as a free update for all the Windows 8 users. While the news is not official, Indonesian publication Detik reported that the Microsoft Indonesia President Andreas Diantoro has confirmed the news. Windows 8 users will be able to download the new Operating System for free, once it rolls out.

However, Diantoro did not comment on what would be offered to customers of the previous versions like Windows XP, Vista and 7. Microsoft is hosting an event on September 30, 2014, which is where they will probably unveil their new OS.

The success or failure of Windows 9 is crucial for the future of Microsoft as the market leader in computing. After their last OS upgrade to Windows 8, there will be tremendous pressure on Microsoft to deliver a good OS. Windows 8 had upset a lot of users with the whole new design.

While there were some who loved how smoothly it ran in comparison to Windows 7, most people were put off by Microsoft’s attempt to make their PCs more touch centric.

Early leaks from sources indicate that Microsoft is planning on getting back the original Start Menu bar at the bottom along with integrating the OS with Microsoft’s Cortana personal digital assistant.

After the launch of Windows 8, a dwindling user base has become a major issue for Microsoft – who now hope to win back their customer’s trust with the Windows 9. The September 30 Microsoft event will mark the end of a very busy tech month with the iPhone 6, BlackBerry Passport, Galaxy Note 4 and Moto X being launched.
