Samsung was ready to launch its Galaxy S21 FE and a few days back it was reported that the smartphone was under mass production but due to the global chip shortage problem, it missed the August launch date. But a report by a leading daily quoted a Samsung official saying that they have cancelled the online unpacking of the Galaxy S21 FE that was planned for mid-October, 2021.
The report has mentioned that there is not one but two reasons for cancelling the smartphone launch. One of the major reason is the global chip shortage problem that has the phone manufacturers struggling for the chips for their respective flagship phones. The Galaxy S21 FE was expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset that was built by Samsung Foundry. Samsung had also planned to keep the manufacturing price low of the device by changing the design and the display of the handset.
The next reason for the cancellation of the launch is the strong sales of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 that is performing way beyond what Samsung had expected. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also powered by the Snapdragon 888 chip and Samsung wants this chip to power all of the foldable smartphones. Going by the trend it seems like the company is currently focusing on the marketing of its foldable units. Moreover, Apple recently launched its iPhone 13 while Google is ready with its Pixel 6 line and this could have led to concerns with the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE if it could be able to stand out among the newly launched smartphones.
In future, even if Samsung decided to launch the Galaxy S21 FE, it would be launched in limited markets and would feature a 6.4 inch OLED display while the triple camera system will appear on the back of the device. The S21 FE will be powered by a 4370 mAh battery with a support for 45W fast charging.
