Samsung Galaxy Note Edge to go on sale in the US

On November 7, 2014, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will go on sale in the US.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was announced by Samsung at the IFA in Berlin on September 3, 2014. Almost 2 months later, the phone will be coming to the United States and at what price? Network carrier AT&T has announced that it will sell the phone on a 2-year contract for $399. Whereas, off-contract, the price will go up to $945.99 from the same carrier.

No network carrier in the US have announced a contract deal for the phone yet, apart from AT&T. Sprint has offered the unsubsidized version of the phone for $840, which is much lesser than AT&T, but still more expensive than the starting price of Vanilla Galaxy Note 4.

The Galaxy Note Edge is clearly a niche device, clearly indicated by the high price. The unique curved screen of the device will certainly catch eyeballs on the road, when it launches on November 7, 2014.

These are the specs of the phone:

  • Display: 5.6 inch
  • Resolution: 1600 x 2560 pixels
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 805
  • Core: quad-core
  • RAM: 3 GB
  • Internal memory: 32 or 64 GB
  • MicroSD card slot: Yes, expandable to 128 GB
  • Operating Software: Android v4.4 KitKat
  • Camera: Primary – 16 megapixel; Secondary – 3.7 megapixel
  • Battery: 3000 mAh

Samsung has introduced a host of new features in the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge with a fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor and the all-new curved right edge of the phone. This will be used for quick navigation to applications even when the phone is off. The Note Edge is the surprise addition by Samsung in the Note series and it was announced with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
