Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 to get a hinge upgrade

Samsung

South Korean tech giant Samsung is all set to host an event in July, 2023. The company is expected to announce a number of new gadgets and products. One of the most awaited products expected to be revealed is  the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 that will mark the next generation of its flagship foldable phone segment. The fresh models that could be announced by Samsung are expected to come packed with new upgrades.

So far some of the leaked reports and images have shown reasonable amount of performance improvement apart from improved dust resistance. In recent times there have been reports that a waterfall hinge would be included to the new devices. For those who do not know about the waterfall hinge – it is a design that was first introduced in 2019 for the foldable displays at the curve space. It can be added to the hinge of the phone, so when it is closed, it forms a water droplet. This way the display will show less of the crease and will be much less noticeable while compared to the current offerings.

The new feature seems to be important as many of the rivals already have the technology in place in their respective foldable phones. But it is said that the hinges on the new Samsung phones might fail to keep up with the expectations. As per a tech insider, the new hinge expected to be a part of the new Samsung devices are just 15 percent less visible when compared to the earlier Fold 4. This means that it could still be hard to beat the near-invisible crease found in  the Oppo Find N2 Flip. The Oppo device certainly has a less noticeable crease, but then it comes down to personal preference and it is also not clear how it could work with prolonged use.

Whatever, the circumstances might be, Samsung still marks an improvement. Samsung continues to remain one of the most expensive devices in the world.
