The coronavirus pandemic has spread across the globe and has caused a massive shortage of equipments, instruments and essential machines. One of the most in-demand machine is the ventilator, which is needed the most to treat some patients who have severe infections. As the virus is spreading, many patients are in need of the ventilators but there is a lot of shortage across the globe. Wearable gadget maker Fitbit is almost ready to introduce its Flow ventilator during the pandemic.
An emergency approval has been given by the Food and Drug Administration so that the Flow machine can be used to treat some of the severe patients of coronavirus. Though there are no customers who are lined up for the ventilators but the company is currently in talks with the government agencies in the United States so they can fulfill needs in the hospitals where such machines are needed. The company is also looking forward to fulfill the needs of the health organizations across the globe.
The Flow ventilator has been made with some sensors and alerts and has a very simple interface and the best part is that it does not require any special operators. Another good thing about Flow is that it has a low price tag when compared to the other emergency ventilators. The machine surely looks beneficial in terms of future use, but there are still a number of obstacles on the way before it is put to use.
One of the big factors is that the world is already on a recovery phase. Fitbit not just needs some customers but is also late in introducing the machine. It is still not clear as to how many people would actually venture to buy it. It is also not clear if there is another wave of the COVID-19 cases. People across the globe have now started to understand the pattern of the virus and are dealing well with it now. There are high chances that the demand for such ventilators could be low.
