WhatsApp November 1 deadline is here

whatsapp

The deadline for the WhatsApp block of November 1, 2021 is finally here. This will lock a number of iPhones and Android phones out of the Instant messaging app for good. The users who are affected by the block will have to update their software or have to buy a new smartphone. There are also possibilities that a number of people could be using a smartphone which is too old to update which means that they will not have any other choice than to upgrade.

Reports say that the block is expected to affect 50 different smartphone models and the deadline for the change is November 1, 2021 and after that WhatsApp will stop working on those models. People who are using Android mobile phones have to make sure that they are running Android 4.1 or later while the iPhone users have to make sure that they are using iOS 10 or later. Talking about the Android users, it would mean that a number of the smartphones would no longer be able to have access to the instant messaging service and that includes the Huawei Ascend Mate and the Samsung Galaxy S3.

For the iOS users, people who are using an iPhone 4 or older would lose access. People who own the iPhone 6S, iPhone SE 2016 or the iPhone 6S Plus need to be careful if they have never upgraded. They would be able to have access to the service only if they upgrade. However, all the three models can be updated to iOS 15 which is the latest version to have an access to WhatsApp. It is a pattern for the tech companies to stop supporting the older versions.

Many times it is done because it is not cost-efficient to continue to keep the apps working on the old versions. Moreover, usage of outdated software also leads to a huge security threat which makes it important to update.
