Samsung shows off 5G phone prototype at CES 2019

South Korean giant Samsung has introduced the prototype of the 5G device at the CES 2019 in Las Vegas. Samsung’s booth at the CES 2019 gave an idea on the development of the device. The 5G prototype device was kept trapped behind the glass in its dock. At the first glance, the device does not look so special but one has to keep in mind that it is just a prototype and not the final design.

It can be assumed that it is the phone that the company is using as its basis for the devices that will work on the 5G networks of the carrier. The disappointing part is that not much has been changed since the first prototype was shown at the same dock at the Qualcomm’s annual tech summit held in Maui, Hawaii in December 2018. But just the presence of the phone is enough at the big tech show.

Samsung is taking advantage of the 5G technology that it has used in the upcoming smartphones. The south Korean giant has signaled that it might be one of the biggest in the market after announcing its first 5G phone for Verizon in the first half of 2019. It has also announced two 5G phones for AT&T but this will mark the first 5G phone by Verizon. There are also reports that Samsung also has the 5G capable version of its upcoming Galaxy S10 phone. The Galaxy S 10 launch event is expected to take place on February 20, 2019.

At the same time, the 5G networks are yet to be ready, but the phone makers are eager to roll out the 5G smartphones beforehand. The capability of the handsets to be 5G ready will have an added advantage over the rest of the smartphones for early adoption. It was also noticed that the transition from 3G to 4G was slow and the carriers and device-makers would now like to speed up the transition.
