The much awaited, the Super Nintendo World theme park which will be a part of the Universal Studios Japan, is all set to open on February 4, 2021. The official announcement was made by Universal Studios on November 30,2020. The opening of the theme park was planned for completion during the Summer Olympics in 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The announcement added that the park will be opening with two main rides namely – Yoshi’s Adventure Ride and Mario Kart Ride.
The company in its official announcement also showed a glimpse of the Mario Kart portion. The Mario Kart ride will be called as the Koopa’s Challenge and is expected to begin from the inside portion of the Bowser’s castle. Universal Studios have also published a few official pictures from the World, but the enthusiasts can watch a video of the attractions on Bloomberg. Kurumi Mori, a reporter from said that the ride makes use of the AR Headsets and is not a free-wheeling ride and is actually on the rails.
Every kart on the ride has four seats and all four will have their own steering wheels. Mori further threw light about the ride and added that the kart is on the rails, but still the riders will be given some control to collect the items and throw the shells like it can be seen in the video game. The reporter added that the ride begins from the Bowser’s castle and there are a number of levels and includes lava and under water theme levels along with the popular Rainbow road. The Osaka based theme park is also going to have a restaurant and a shopping area that was shown by Universal Studios.
When at the Super Nintendo World, the players will have to wear magnetic wristbands that will allow them to be engaged in different levels in the park and will also allow them to earn scores. Universal Studios has also assured that it will be taking special measures for the pandemic
