Gadget Herald: Search engine giant Google has finally unveiled its much awaited music service Google Music on November 16, 2011. The new music service allows the users to purchase songs through the Android market and has now come in direct competition with Apple’s iTunes store.
Google Music will now allow users to stream and store as many as 20,000 songs. The service was launched at an event in Los Angeles and it has joined hands with other music giants like Sony Corp’s music unit, EMI Group and Vivendi SA’s Universal Music Group.
The service will offer 13 million songs from a number of labels. In order to promote its Android Operating system,Google has expanded itself in music, movies and TV. The search engine will also allow users to share the music on it’s social networking site Google+.
However, the biggest challenge would be if the new Google service can overtake the current iTunes store of Apple. James Rosenberg, the director of digital content for Android, said that music is more important to Google then ever before. Apart from music, the service will also offer reviews, exclusive content from the artists and band information. Before buying the song, users will get a 90 second preview of it.
