Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC Corp. has been struggling of late in the smartphone market. Now the tech company is looking to tilt the odds in its favor by launching a new phone under its One brand, according to reports on February 20, 2013.
The new HTC phone will allegedly have a custom-built home-screen, similar to that of the Microsoft Windows Phone. However, the underlying platform will be Android-based. The phone also has a 4.7-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 pixel density. This makes the phone quite small as compared to others such as the Droid DNA, which sports a 5-inch screen.
Jonah Becker, who is a design director with HTC had to say the following at a press conference in New York, ” (There is) precision machining that goes into making the virtually all-metal body of the phone. In a design reminiscent of the iPhone 5, HTC has eliminated all the little gaps between different parts, giving the phone a smooth, tight feel in the hand.”
According to industry sources, the new HTC One may go on sale late in March 2013 and the company could partner with Sprint Nextel, AT & T and T-Mobile as well. However one would have to wait and see when the exact due date of the phone would be.
