Search engine giant Google is thinking even ahead in terms of technology and is looking forward to introduce Android for cars. The internet giant has teamed up with many manufacturers on January 6, 2014 to introduce the OS to cars.
Google has joined hands with the companies like Honda, Hyundai, General Motors, Audi and the processor chip company Nvidia and has launched the Open Automotive Alliance. The companies released a statement which mentioned that the OAA wants to accelerate the auto innovation with an approach which offers openness and customization and scale.
Patrick Brady, the director of Android engineering said, “Putting Android in the car will bring drivers apps and services they already know and love, while enabling automakers to more easily deliver cutting-edge technology to their customers.’’ The post added that it will help to create new opportunities for the developers to extend the variety and depth of Android app ecosystem.
The alliance will also be developing a new Android platform with the help of which the features can be connected to the Android device. With Android in the cars the drivers will be able to attend phones without being distracted from driving. Moreover, as the platform is a familiar one they will be able to deliver a powerful experience for the users.
