The government of China is taking up more steps to deal with the censorship issues on the internet. The government of China is planning to set up a shop at some of the major internet companies so as to help prevent crimes like fraud, spreading of rumours.
The Ministry of Public Security in China will establish the cyber security police units in the key websites and internet companies. However, the ministry has not yet mentioned which of the companies will be monitored. Reports said that some of the companies like Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu are the country’s biggest firms but so far none of them have confirmed about the presence of police.
China has restricted the usage of web on a large scale along with the social networks. The country earlier this year adopted new service that has required the web users to register their real games on blogs , instant messaging services, blogs, online discussion forums, news comments section and other related services.
A study from the University of Tonronto’s Citizen Lab found large censorship of political posts on WeChat, which is China’s version of Facebook. Researchers have downloaded more than 36,000 unique public account posts between June 2014 and March 2015.
