There was a time when the smartphone manufacturers were in a battleground to bring forward the biggest cameras in their respective smartphones. While 2020 is almost over, the competition in terms of mega pixels is not yet over. After 108mega pixel snappers in the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro smartphones, Samsung is preparing to come up with its 192 megapixel snapper very soon.

Although things have not been confirmed by some of the rumours have clearly indicated that Samsung is behind developing a 600 megapixel sensor as well. Reports have revealed that the sensor is already getting ready and is expected to be 1/0.57 inches in size. At present, the P40 Pro+ by Huawei has the biggest sensor in the market with 1/1.28 inches. However, these are not the biggest as in the past, the consumers have experienced even bigger sensors that that was seen in Panasonic 1-inch sensor along with the Nokia Pureview 808 with a 1/1.2 inch sensor.

It has to be noticed that the bigger megapixels are just a part of capturing the detailed images. Even the size of the sensor and individual pixels contribute to a great capture with high image quality. Going by the leaks that are shown online, the 600megapixel Samsung sensor.

Majority of the phones which are used today have thickness of under 10 mm which means that Samsung might not be able to use this tech with the current trend. But this is not the first time there is a news about 600 megapixel sensor from Samsung. In the month of April, 2020 the head of the Samsung’s sensor department , Yongin Park said that the company is working towards a tech that would capture images that would not even be seen by a human eye. But being so ambitious, it seems like it would surely take some time for the tech to come out.
