US-based telecommunication giant AT&T has announced that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active can claim a replacement if their cell phones get damaged by water. The company said that it will be replacing the device with a new one, if the old phone gets damaged in water.
The announcement from the telecom company was made through a statement, which read, “Samsung designed and tested the Galaxy S4 Active to adhere to IP67 standards for water resistance (1 meter for 30 minutes). If your Galaxy S4 Active has been damaged due to water exposure, bring it back to an AT&T retail store as soon as possible for a onetime exchange for another Galaxy S 4 Active.” The new S4 Active by Samsung is supposed to be rugged and water-resistant and is also supposed to withstand a dunking in 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes, as long as it is sealed correctly.
However, reports have said that some phones could not survive after being in water that long. The device has an internal liquid damage indicator, which is triggered in the event of water damage.
The telecom company will be replacing devices only through its official website or retail outlets.
