South Korean giant Samsung already has its Galaxy Note 9 as the most powerful phone that he has. However, the company is planning even bigger in the pipeline for 2019. Samsung is planning to launch a foldable phone but it will not be similar to those clamshell phones that were available during the 90s.
DJ Koh, from Samsung while talking to the journalists had said at an event that when it comes to a foldable phone Samsung dies not want to lose the world’s first title. Koh added that Samsung is under process and is “focusing on developing innovations that will be genuinely accepted and liked by consumers.” The idea of coming up with a foldable phone was prompted in 2016 and since then the South Korean giant has been working on it.
The company has also clarified that it is not talking about the phones that were similar to the Motorola flipphones that were a trend during the 90s era and had a keypad. The upcoming foldable phones would be proper smartphones that will have cutting-edge foldable screen technology that has been earlier seen in the R & D labs for many years. Apart from having a central display that folds with the spine, the upcoming gadget can also have a screen on the outside. If this materializes, you can imagine the repair cost if you drop it.
Koh has also assured that the project is not very far from seeing the light but some of the unconfirmed reports have said that it could be unveiled in 2019. At the same time Samsung has to gear up and increase its pace as other companies are also working on foldable phones. There are reports that Huawei is working towards launching the world’s first foldable phone. In case of Samsung the new design format can be the beginning of a series of phones by the side of the S and Note series of smartphones.
