In an era when the foldable phones are the much awaited devices of 2019, Xiaomi has unveiled the prototype of its foldable device in a teaser video. Lin Bin, the Xiaomi Co-founder and president has posted about a minute long video on Weibo on January 23, 2019 and has detailed about the upcoming device.
Both sides of the device can be folded backwards to transform it in to more of a compact phone. The Xiaomi device is much more practical than the other foldable devices that have been seen so far in terms of technology. However, the company has not provided much details about the device but Bin has revealed that it is simply an engineering model. The president of the company has also shared that it has faced a number of technical problems like the flexible folding screen technology, flexible cover technology, four-wheel drive folding shaft technology and the MIUI adaptation and has successfully conquered it.
Reports say that the company has adapted the MIUI software for the foldable phone and a video is seen playing on the device before it converts from a tablet to a phone. The foldable phone by Xiaomi had leaked earlier in January, 2019 and it is all set to compete against some of the other upcoming foldable devices in the market from Samsung and the Chinese company Royole.
Another company Huawei is also planning to launch its foldable device while Lenovo has earlier teased that it was working on a bendable device. Xiaomi has not yet revealed when more details of its foldable device will be out. However, with the Mobile World Congress all set to begin in a month, it is likely that more features of the device might be revealed very soon. Xiaomi is known for making some of the most lucrative smart devices and the gadget enthusiasts are surely waiting for the release of this particular foldable smartphone.
