Passengers flying from Dallas to San Diego received a pleasant surprise while on their flight as they all received free Nintendo Switch consoles. The Southwest Airlines gave the passengers free Nintendo Switch video game consoles on a recent flight. The airline held a sweepstakes on July 15 that had promised to give away a free Nintendo Switch device as well as a digital copy of Super Mario Maker 2 everyday till August, 13, 2019.
Passengers who were travelling from Dallas to San Diego on July 17, 2019 on Southwest Flight 2246 got a console for themselves. Nicholas Friedman, a social media manager for Funimation, tweeted a picture of the gift from the flight. While everyone was wondering why Nintendo and Southwest gave away such gifts to the passengers, reports say that the flight was full of people flying to San Diego Comic-Con where Nintendo is expected to have a presence.
A leading daily said, “And this also adds to the tidal wave of news to come out of Nintendo over the last few weeks, the most recent being the announcement of the Nintendo Switch Lite”. For those who do not remember, Southwest and Nintendo had joined hands in 2013 to make sure one flight received free Wii U devices and a copy of Super Mario Maker as well.
The airline is celebrating a summer of surprises with the ultimate travel companion Nintendo Switch. Moreover, one of the lucky winner will get a Nintendo Switch system and a download code for the digital version of the Super Mario Maker 2 game everyday between July 15 and August 13. The Nintendo and Southwest representatives onboard also provided them with the opportunity to play a custom air travel-themed Super Mario Maker 2 course known as the Southwest Super Sky challenge. All the passengers who played the game onboard entered for a chance to win a $500 Southwest gift card and A Nintendo Switch Prize pack that contained a Nintendo Switch system and a Download code for the digital version of Super Mario Maker 2 game.
