Gadget Herald: Tech giant Toshiba is now stepping into the tablet market with ‘Thrive’. The tablet will be launched next month and will support Wi-Fi, but will not be able to offer 3G.
According to the company, the tablet is meant for home use. The Thrive will have a Honeycomb 3.1 version of Android of Google. The tablet will also have USB connectivity as well as an HDMI port.
However, despite announcing that the tablet is meant for home use, some third party applications like LogMeln and QuickOffice will be provided for business purpose. The tablet will be available in the US market on 10th of July 2011.
The company has said that the Thrive will be available for $429 in the market. For the consumer convenience, the Thrive will have a back cover that can be swapped. Moreover, there are a number of colors to choose from. For now the tablet will only be available in the US market. Its availability in the UK market is expected by this autumn, though no official release date has been given by the company.
The 16 GB model will be available for $479 while the 32 GB version will be available for $579.
