The AirTags by Apple was launched in 2021 and ever since then they have become hugely popular. But it has also gained a lot of attention due to the wrong reasons and now Apple is taking a few steps to deal with the situation. The concept of the device is not very complicated as the user has to just strap it to an object that you do not want to lose at any cost (for instance keys). With the help of crowdsourcing the help of nearby iPhones on Apple’s Find My network and local tracking, the users will never lose the object.
On the other hand Apple is also aware of the big loop hole that the AirTags can also be misused due to which the company is now taking a few measures. It is politely advising the users not to use the device for illegal purposes. The iPhone manufacturer is also making a few anti-stalking changes to the AirTags on the iOS 15.4 beta. It has added a set up that warns the user by reminding that the AirTag can be located at any time but using it to track people without their consent would be a crime in a number of regions across the globe.
The problem of tracking AirTags has become a problem in recent times, especially in the cases of exes who end up stalking each other. Some of the thieves also tend to put the device in the luxury vehicles. This has become a popular criminal activity and a reminder for the AirTags users to remain careful while using their respective devices. The best measure would be to turn the back of the device counter-clock-wise to take out the battery to disable it.
Not to forget that Apple also has an Android app that can be used to track the nearby AirTags. SO it is best to disable them when it is not in use.
