Google Fit app gets new updates

Google Fit

Search engine giant Google is rolling out the new design of the Google Fit app for the Android and the Fit section of the Wear OS on the iPhone. The new design will be focusing on closing rings that will be similar to Apple and other devices as well. The search engine has said that the rings will be made according to the health recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Heart Association.

On an everyday basis, the users will be encouraged to complete two goals. One will be based on move minutes and the other will be a new thing that will be known as the heart points.Margaret Hollendoner, the senior product manager for Google Fit said that the new changes have been made to take away the complications of the fitness tracking. The Move Minutes is expected to be better metric than the simple steps as it has the ability to capture different activities as walking might not be a great option for some people.

The next idea of Heart points is an abstract concept and it designed to encourage the users to get engaged in different activities that will help to get the heart rate up and will not essentially require a trip to the gym. Hollendoner said that it can be as simple like just picking up pace while walking. Fit will attempt to use both the metrics as there are various sensors available to it. If a user has a Wear OS watch then it can track the heart rate directly and can also automatically detect when you begin to exercise. The Fit will not require a Wear OS watch but it will definitely work better with one.

The device can also help with the health data gained from other devices which are compatible with Fit. At the same time Google is also being careful by not crossing the line in to making actual health claims with Google Fit.
