LG to unveil first 5G smartphone at Mobile World Congress


LG is also known for its promising series of smartphones, is all set to unveil its first 5G smartphone on February 24, 2019 at the Mobile World Congress to be held at Barcelona. The upcoming device is expected to feature a Snapdragon 855 processor, a vapor chamber and a 4,000 mAh battery. LG will be announcing the new handset at the Centre de Convencions International de Barcelona.

On the same date and location the South Korean electronics giant will be unveiling the G8 smartphone. The 5G smartphone will be showcased to the visitors until the tradeshow ends on February 28, 2019. LG is yet to name its upcoming 5G handset and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 and the processor will be 45 percent faster than the earlier generation devices.

The unique feature the device will have is the vapour chamber that will better protect it against the heat compared to the heat pipes and will also sport a huge 4,000 battery. LG has said that the upcoming device from LG has been designed to consume high volume content. The countries like North America, South Korea and Europe are likely to be the first ones to get the phone. In August, LG said that it has plans to launch a 5G smartphone with US carrier Sprint within the first half of 2019.

The South Korean giant is also likely to show off a number of other new smartphones at the upcoming tradeshow and will include the low-end as well as high end smartphones. The most exciting part for the gadget enthusiasts is that the upcoming flagship device by LG will have a new hand gesture feature that will allow the users to control it without touching the screen. On the other hand competitor Samsung will be showcasing its Galaxy S10 earlier at San Francisco on February 20, 2019. More companies will be showcasing their respective devices at the tradeshow.
