After opening the gates of its the much awaited theme park Super Nintendo World in Osaka, Japan, the company is now planning to invest in an upcoming animated film. It is expected to be a large scale Super Mario film that would be made by the makers of Minion at Illumination. But looking at the current situation, it seems like things are at a very amateur stage. The details of the project are not yet clear but a serious discussion is being made within the company about the animated film.

Although this is not the first time Nintendo is venturing in to the animated film project. Ever since its live-action Super Mario Bros failed at the box office, the company has taken a back seat and has been hesitant in terms of producing more animated films. But now it seems like it intends to take the risk again. It is expected that by 2022 the Italian plumber will be returning to the silver screens with the animated flick Super Mario. Makers of Minions, Illumination will be producing the animated flick which is enough to increase the excitement and curiosity among the people.

Shuntaro Furukawa, the global president of Nintendo expressed that they are seriously looking in to animation and not just the franchise. But still the gaming giant will continue to be careful of what they would be producing. It was due to the failure of the live-action flick Super Mario Bros that Nintendo has been careful about producing future animated films. The animated flick was produced in 1993 and was severely criticized. The curiosity of the company had increased nearly a decade ago when it intended to increase the creativity and quality of Nintendo outside just gaming.

Furukawa also said that they intend to make the results true to the player’s experience once it is adapted from the games. For now it seems like the company is taking careful moves.
