The new phone will sit alongside Nokia’s mid-range Lumia 820 and their flagship Lumia 920 as their latest Windows 8 smartphone. According to the release, the Lumia 620 is aimed at the youth and is termed as ‘compact and fun’. Nokia say that the phone makes use of what they call a ‘dual-shot’ technique, thereby creating a variety of new colors and textures.
Using the dual-shot technique two layers of polycarbonate are used to created in-depth effects and many secondary color blends. The single base layer and second color layer are cast together in a transparent or translucent layer to complete the dual-shot method.
The Nokia Lumia 620 is the most affordable Windows 8 smartphone being released by the Finnish company. It has a 3.8-inch screen that has certain sunlight readability enhancements, similar to the Lumia 820. It also has the Cinemagraph and Smart Shoot lenses that boost the 5 megapixel camera as well as the front-facing VGA camera.
The new device will also make use of Nokia City Lens, Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps in addition to the 1 GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, wireless connectivity and a battery that provides up to 14.6 Hrs of GSM talk time.
The Lumia 620 is priced at USD 249 and is set to hit stores in the first quarter of 2013.
