US-based tech giant Apple claimed the number one spot as the most valuable brand in the world. Apple took over the coveted top spot from the beverage giant Coca-Cola, which maintained the number one position for 13 consecutive years.
The top 100 list of ‘Best Global Brands 2013’ was released by Interbrand this week. The list ranked companies on the basis of their financial performance, marketing, international presence, loyalty of their customers, as well as the role every brand has when it comes to purchasing decision. In 2013, Apple has been announced as the most valuable brand in the world.
The company’s brand value is estimated to be $98.3 billion, which marks a 28 percent increase from Interbrand’s report from 2012. In 2012, Apple managed to claim the second spot on the list and was at number 8 in 2011. The 2013 report of Interbrand mentioned, “Every so often, a company changes our lives, not just with its products, but with its ethos”.
The report also mentioned that Interbrand now has a new company at the number one spot, following Coca-Cola’s 13 years as the world’s most valuable brand. Even though Coca-Cola managed to claim the top spot for 13 long and successful years, the company brand saw an increase of just 2 percent in 2013, to $79.2 billion.
