There was a time when a new generation of foldable phones had gripped the smartphone market. A number of companies got in the race to launch the first and the most tech savvy foldable smartphone in the market. Samsung is currently the one who hasn’t given up on its rigidness to come up with the perfect foldable device despite failing twice. Now Apple is one of the few companies who have not hurried to come up with their foldable marvels and is actually in the process. Some of the recent reports have claimed that the Cupertino based company has appointed LG Display to develop a display panel that could be used for the upcoming foldable iPhone.
A foldable iPhone surely seems interesting and exciting. Apple is in development of foldable phone that will have an OLED display. But it is not clear if LG Display will be supplying the Cupertino based company with the display panels. It continues to be a rumor that Samsung would be the supplier for Apple’s OLED displays for foldable devices.
There are also reports that the South Korean company had provided the iPhone maker with a number of samples for foldable devices for testing in 2020. Here it is not clear as to how LG’s name as the supplier for the displays has surfaced. Till date Apple has used the displays of LG as well as Samsung for its iPhones and there are also possibilities that the displays for the upcoming foldable devices might come from both the companies.
In recent times it was reported that Apple is all set to launch a foldable phone with a 7 inch OLED display along with Apple Pencil support in 2023. The company has been researching on foldable devices since the year 2016 but the reports have considerably increased in recent times. This has indicated that the foldable device from the giant might be just round the corner.
